Rising cyber crime has created a global shortage of information security professionals, transforming this field into one of immense growth and opportunities. The Cyber Operations degree equips you to enter those roles and meet that demand.The curriculum delivers offensive and defensive cyber security content within our state-of-the-art Cyber Virtual Learning Environment, which allows you to gain extensive hands-on experience and develop the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to succeed after graduating. In addition, the Cyber Operations degrees offers three degree emphases: Engineering, Defense & Forensics, and Cyber Law & Policy.The Cyber Engineering emphasis is a deeply technical, interdisciplinary, security focused Computer Science program. The Cyber Engineering emphasis meets the National Security Agency (NSA) Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) academic requirements. The National Security Agency has designated the University of Arizona’s Cyber Operations program as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO). With this designation, UA joins an extremely exclusive group of only 20 programs in the nation. The NSA’s CAE-CO designation demonstrates that UA’s Cyber Operations program meets the most demanding academic and technical requirements.

    This strand involves the general understanding and appreciation of how mathematics is used to solve problems in everyday life. The G-strand does not prepare a student for any further work grounded in mathematics and assumes the student will not proceed beyond the basic Foundations level noted above. Thus only those students whose major requires the most general knowledge of mathematics should take this strand.

Second Language Required:

2 Semesters

  • Scoring the equivalent of second-semester skill level on an entrance or placement examination administered by The University of Arizona.
  • Completion with a C or better of a second semester course at the post-secondary level.
  • An AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate) or CLEP (College Level Entrance Program) language score determined by the individual language department.
  • In the College of Engineering by a method determined within the College; however, all students in the college must also take a language placement examination on entrance to the University.
